Hello Parents and Guardians,
Now is the time to select your child’s mode of instruction, in-person or distance learning, for the remainder of 2020-2021 school year. The window for you to inform the District of your choice for the second semester will remain open until Monday, January 11, 2021. Please complete this process for each child in your household. The second semester begins February 2, 2021.
If your child is currently attending brick and mortar instruction and you would like to continue with that mode of instruction, no further action is necessary. However, if your child is currently being instructed via distance learning, we ask you to enter your child’s student portal and reconfirm that choice. The reason for this is the District has posted notification letters in the student portals of select children in distance learning who are not making adequate academic progress.
It is the District’s recommendation that distance learners, who are at educational risk, return to in-person education which may help them succeed.
Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) take the same position with regards to those students who are struggling in distance learning. You will learn more by reviewing the Governor’s Executive Order.
The District is aware that this is a very important decision for parents and guardians. Please review our most frequently asked questions and answers. While reviewing these questions you will also see a short instructional video reminding you how to access the student portal.
While the choice you register this week will lock in your mode of instruction for the remainder of the school year, it’s important to note that waivers will be available for parents and guardians who request a change from one mode of instruction to another due to extenuating circumstances.
